At Discovery Kids Childcare we closely align our learning standards to “Colorado Early Learning & Development Guidelines.”
Toddler 1: 12 Months to 18 Months
- Physical Development & Health to include; interaction with environment, walking and running with coordination, fine motor skills, and maintenance of healthy growth.
- Social Development to include; following directions, interaction with peers (to include back-and-forth play & sharing), relationship with other
children, and responding to others feelings. - Emotional Development to include; feeling secure, identity of self, perseverance & satisfaction with progress, emotional regulation and impulse control.
- Language and Literacy Development to include; understanding of directions, expressing needs wants & interests, listening to books and responding appropriately.
- Cognitive Development to include; cause and effect, spacial relationships, imitation, recognition of different amounts of things, and understanding object’s connection to each other.
- Routines to include; understanding personal care and sleep routines.
- Having Fun! Learning standards are great, but at Discovery Kids Childcare all children have fun too!
Toddler 2: 18 Months to 30 Months
- Physical Development to include; interaction with environment, walking and running with coordination, fine motor skills, and maintenance of healthy growth.
- Social Development to include;communication experiences or ideas, cooperative play, develop friendships, and empathy.
- Emotional Development to include; relationship with adults, identity of self in relation to others, pride in their own abilities, appropriate expression of emotion (to include complex emotions), and emotion & impulse control.
- Language and Literacy Development to include; ability to understand complex ideas and directions, ability to use vocabulary, and interest in books (to include independent use of books.)
- Cognitive Development to include; cause and effect, spacial relationships, imitation, understanding of number and quantity; ability to group, sort & connect, and routines.
- Approaches to Learning to include; problem solving, ability to store and retrieve information and attention maintenance.
- Having Fun! Learning standards are great, but at Discovery Kids Childcare all children have fun too!
